Many of us eagerly anticipate the summer when we can break out our tank tops, swimming suits and shorts and enjoy the outdoors, whether that be warm evenings sitting on the deck or hot afternoons having a swim.
Crucial reminders for fun in the sun
There are a lot of fun, free activities in the local area. We are lucky to live in easy driving distance of numerous beaches and lakes. There is no charge to use the hiking trails at the qplex in Quispamsis and get out into nature. Take your kids out to the park for some active outdoor play.
Keep an eye on screen time. This applies to adults as well as kids. Kids need memories of their summer vacation beyond what video games they played; and adults can easily waste a summer vacation TV-bingeing on Netflix or, worse, working via cellphone. Put a limit on how much time you spend in front of a screen. Use the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends, be active, and make memories.
Be prepared! We would like to be able to wear tank tops and shorts every day, but summer nights can be cool and rain can put a damper on activities. When you’re camping or visiting the cottage, don’t forget your jeans, sweatshirts and rain gear. Plan a few inside activities so you have something to do until the weather gets sunny again. And when it does, pack your sunscreen, sunglasses and hats, so you can protect your skin and eyes.
Vacation doesn’t mean a break from regular health care. Just as you still brush your teeth on vacation, you should also remember to keep up with regular chiropractic maintenance. Nobody wants to be sidelined with aches and pains while everyone else is having summer fun. Have you scheduled your next appointment? If you haven’t, call Sheppard Chiropractic Centre at (506) 635-8182 or (506) 847-7172.
