Why do we blog about physical fitness on a regular basis?  Because the musculo-skeletal care that chiropractors provide, and physical fitness, go hand-in-hand.

Your body works better and feels better when you’re physically fit.  This includes your musculo-skeletal system.

Chiropractors use their specialist knowledge to advise you how to exercise in ways that meet your abilities and needs.  They can also provide stretches and tips customized to the activities you enjoy.  This is why so many professional athletes have regular chiropractors.

Physical fitness supports your musculo-skeletal system

Firstly, weight-bearing activities can strengthen your bones.  They may help protect you against osteoporosis.  Osteoporosis is a serious disease that results in the deterioration of bone mass.  Walking, dancing, hiking and stair climbing are all examples of weight-bearing activities.

Secondly, your back will also benefit if you have strong abdominal muscles.  If you have weak abdominal muscles, your lower spine and organs might not always be held in the correct position inside your body.  Back pain can result.  Weak abdominal muscles can result from an oversized waistline.  And, like any other muscles, they become stronger with exercise.

Exercise doesn’t have to be vigorous to be beneficial.  We are not all marathon runners!  Aim for physical activity at least three times a week.  It can go a long way to improving your overall health and well-being.

Exercise releases endorphins, the “feel-good” hormones.  In conclusion, this is why exercise helps people to cope with stress, anxiety, and negative emotions.
