When you have been in the chiropractic business for as long as we have (over 20 years!) we know which questions our prospective patients ask most often.

This week and next, we’ll take a look at answering some of those frequently asked questions.

Questions About Our Services

Firstly, some of the most frequently asked questions are about our services.

What conditions can be treated at Sheppard Chiropractic Centre?

This is not an exclusive list but reflects the most common conditions treated: sports injuries, headaches, neck & back pain, sciatica (pinched nerve), scoliosis, plantar fasciitis, ligament & tendon tears, bulging & herniated discs, rotator cuff injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, and much more.

If you have a musculo-skeletal complaint that isn’t on this list, we recommend an initial appointment with Dr. Sheppard.  We will be able to advise you on the best course of action after your initial examination.

Do you direct bill insurance companies?

We can direct a number of bill insurance companies.

Specific details of an individual patient’s coverage are private, between the patient and the insurance company.

We advise you to contact your insurance company if you’re unsure of details involving your coverage.  These details include:   what services you’re covered for, your coverage amount, whether your account allows direct billing, if you have a deductible, and when your coverage re-sets.  Your company will be able to explain the confidential details of your coverage.

If you’re covered for chiropractic care, you’re eligible for both traditional chiropractic and laser therapy.

What is chiropractic treatment?

Chiropractors treat the musculo-skeletal system.  They do this through manual adjustment and manipulation of the spine, joints and associated muscles. Chiropractic care is effective, natural, and drug-free.  It enhances overall wellness and quality of life.

What is laser therapy?

First, laser diodes are applied to the skin.  Then, they beam their light through the skin and into the muscle cells.  This stimulates healing in the cells. As a result, there is no cutting or surgery involved in this non-invasive treatment.  Laser therapy is also effective, natural, and drug-free.

Come back next week for more frequently asked questions, including:  will it hurt?  How often will I need to see a chiropractor?  And more.
