Whether you like to use the computer in a home office or work at a desk as part of your career, many of us spend hours sitting at our desks.  Sitting for long periods of time places strain on the human body.  Fortunately, stretches can alleviate discomfort and help us to avoid injury from cumulative stress.

The following stretches are typically recommended for desk workers.

Take a stretch break

Clench your fists and rotate them, first clockwise, then counterclockwise, ten times each.  This motion will help protect your wrists.

Fold your hands in an “prayer position,” squeeze and hold for ten seconds.  Then angle your hands downwards and repeat.

In a sitting position, put your right elbow to your left knee and hold for ten seconds, then change sides.

Remember to get up for five minutes every hour to stretch and walk around.

Desk work places unique stresses on the human body.

Regular chiropractic care is the best way to address these strains before they become painful.  If you haven’t got your next appointment booked, call Sheppard Chiropractic and Laser Healing at (506) 635-8182 or (506) 847-7172.
