Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia. Your plantar fascia is the tissue that runs between your heel and your toes.

Tension and stress can create micro sized tears in the plantar fascia.  Repeated tearing and stretching are common causes of plantar fasciitis.

Chiropractors are musculo-skeletal specialists.  Your musculo-skeletal system includes your feet.

Laser therapy is effective in treating plantar fasciitis

Laser therapy is one of several chiropractic modalities.  It is often used to plantar fasciitis.  The laser stimulates the cells to heal more quickly.  This helps to reduce inflammation.  Then your body’s healing processes can “catch up” with the stresses placed on your feet as you walk around in daily life.

Laser therapy can also alleviate much of the discomfort associated with this condition.

Firstly, plantar fasciitis is more common in people with flat feet.  Secondly, it is also more common in those with a high arch.

Thirdly, it can also develop when a person’s gait affects the way they distribute their weight on their feet.

If this applies to you, orthotics may help.  We can assist you with orthotics that meet your needs.

Foot health

Most of all, supportive shoes are crucial.  Whenever possible, bypass the flip-flops, dress shoes, heels and slippers.  Also choose shoes with deep treads and support for your heel and arch.

Finally, recognize that shoes wear out over time.  The more active you are, the more quickly your shoes will wear out.  Replace shoes regularly to ensure they are providing enough support.
