There are a number of commonly available over-the-counter painkillers.  Some of these include ibuprofen (Advil), acetaminophen (Tyelnol), acetylsalacilic acid (Aspirin) and naproxen sodium (Aleve).

Headache?  Sore back?  Aching joints?  It’s tempting to respond to feelings of discomfort by popping a painkiller or two and waiting for the pain to go away.

But painkillers, like other drugs, carry side effects.  For example, it’s dangerous to mix Tylenol and alcohol.  What do you do when the pain starts up just after you’ve had a glass of wine with dinner?

Over-the-counter pain relief is meant for occasional use.  What do you do when you’re feeling discomfort on a daily basis?  Negative effects occur when these drugs are used regularly.

Painkillers do not cure injuries or help your body to heal.   Nor do they provide support for chronic conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Painkillers mask the symptoms, but they don’t fix the reason you’re feeling pain in the first place.

Minor discomfort, like cramps or muscle aches, might go away before a painkiller wears off.  But many injuries won’t heal on their own.  Then what?

Chiropractic care puts your body back into proper alignment.  It supports your nervous system, so it’s easier for signals to get from your brain to the rest of your body.  Chiropractic care can help your body to heal itself.

Laser therapy is particularly effective for arthritis, plantar fasciitis, bone spurs, and chronic inflammatory conditions where your body needs a little extra support to cope with the inflammation.  It is also good for acute injuries such as rotator cuff tears, pulled tendons and sports injuries.  The laser light stimulates the cells to help the body heal.
